Editorial Policy
At NENC Media Group our first obligation is to the truth. We treat journalism as a public service and commit to producing reporting that is accurate, fair, independent, and clearly labeled. This Editorial Policy explains the standards that guide our newsroom, how we handle errors and conflicts, and how readers can hold us accountable.
Accuracy and Verification
We verify facts before publication by checking reporting against multiple reliable sources and original documents where possible. Raw tips require corroboration before they appear on the site. Analysis and interpretation are permitted but must be clearly labeled as analysis. Headlines and lead paragraphs reflect verified facts and do not overstate or sensationalize. Sources are attributed directly in the story or in an attribution note when practicable.
Independence and Funding
Editorial decisions are made in‑house and free from political, commercial, or other outside influence. We disclose our funding model openly: membership revenue, advertising, and direct support from the founder. Sponsored content, paid partnerships, or commercial projects are accepted only when editorial independence is preserved and such content is clearly labeled as sponsored or promoted.
Transparency and Sources
We identify sources whenever doing so does not place people at risk. When anonymity is granted to a source, we explain the reason for anonymity in the story. We link to primary documents and supporting evidence whenever available. Conflicts of interest involving staff, contributors, or our board are disclosed on the relevant story and recorded in our internal conflicts log. Staff bylines include role and a short bio on the masthead.
Corrections, Updates and Accountability
When new facts emerge we update stories and add a clear timestamped note describing the change. When we have published an error we issue a correction that explains what was wrong, what we have changed, and when the correction was made. Corrections are easy to find on the corrected story and are included in our corrections log. To submit a correction, email corrections@nencmediagroup.com. For unresolved concerns about editorial practice, contact editor@nencmediagroup.com.
Ethical Standards and Legal Notices
We do not publish plagiarized, fabricated, or knowingly misleading material. We avoid gratuitous sensationalism and respect the dignity and privacy of people we cover, balancing public interest with individual rights. We comply with applicable copyright and data protection laws. For copyright takedowns or legal notices use legal@nencmediagroup.com. We maintain an internal review process for serious ethical or legal questions and will disclose outcomes where appropriate.
